January 20, 2023- Elizabethtown Area High School (EAHS) seniors Elyse Hayden and Trey Firestone were named the Elizabethtown Rotary Club's Students of the Month for January. This program celebrates and recognizes student achievements by sustaining a culture of learning that values academic success and raises awareness of student contributions to the EAHS community.

Hayden is the daughter of Kevin and Elizabeth Hayden of Elizabethtown. As a junior, the high school inducted Hayden into the prestigious T.H. Ebersole Chapter of the National Honor Society for exhibiting the four pillars of scholarship, character, leadership, and service.

In the academic arena, Hayden has earned numerous accolades. The high school faculty recognized her for outstanding achievement and growth in multiple curricular areas as part of the underclass awards program. She was honored with academic excellence awards in Graphic Design, French III, Multimedia Design, General Science, and 20th Century US History. Hayden also received the Administrative Leadership Award and Jacqueline Myers World Language Award.

Hayden holds leadership positions in numerous school activities. She is the Class of 2023 co-president, student council representative and club publicity secretary, and a student choreographer for the high school's theater program. As part of the theater program, Hayden received a nomination for outstanding lead actress in a play for her role as Molly Aster in EAHS's production of Peter and the Star Catcher. In addition, Hayden is a member of the Key Club and several high school music ensembles.

In the community, Hayden is a teacher assistant at E-Dance and a server at the Masonic Village Elizabethtown. In addition, Hayden attends Saint Peter Catholic Church in Elizabethtown and is a part of the youth group program.Elyse Hayden and Trey Firestone

Her plans after graduation include attending a four-year college or university to pursue a degree in Dance and Multimedia.

Firestone is active in numerous school activities. He is a student council member, serving as recording secretary, and is involved with the concert choir. In addition, he supports Mini-thon and is a dance captain for the high school’s musical.

In the community, Firestone is a teacher assistant with E-Dance. In addition, he works at Aeropostale at the Hershey Outlets.

After graduation, Firestone plans to attend Elizabethtown College to pursue a degree in graphic design with a minor in International Studies.
