June 2, 2023- Elizabethtown Area High School (EAHS) seniors Elizabeth Kerin and Tavan Schoenberger were named the Elizabethtown Rotary Club's Students of the Month for June. This program celebrates and recognizes student achievements by sustaining a culture of learning that values academic success and raises awareness of student contributions to the EAHS community.

Kerin is the daughter of Bob and Christy Kerin of Elizabethtown.

In the academic arena, the high school inducted Kerin into the prestigious T.H. Ebersole Chapter of the National Honor Society for exhibiting the four pillars of scholarship, character, leadership, and service. She served as secretary of the honor society during her senior year. In addition, the high school faculty honored her with its academic excellence award for Business, Computer, and Technology at the underclass awards program.

Kerin is active in numerous school activities. She is a highly decorated member of the high school volleyball team. She has twice been named to the Lancaster-Lebanon League’s Section 2 and Academic All-Star teams. During her senior season, the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association named her to the District 3 All-Star team, and the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association named her to its all-state team. In addition, she was the team’s most valuable player and captain. Aside from volleyball, Kerin plays the piano for the high school’s pit orchestra and chorus. She is active with the Future Business Leaders of America program. She was vice president of FLBA her senior year and was the FBLA state champion in Sports Management.June students of the month

Kerin has volunteered with the Elizabethtown Public Library and has interned with Elizabethtown College’s athletic department. She is currently employed at the Masonic Village. In addition, she is active with LCBC Manheim campus.

After graduation, she plans to attend York College of PA to pursue a degree in Sports Management. In addition, Kerin will continue her volleyball career during her time at York College.

Schoenberger is the son of Michael and Trisha Schoenberger of Elizabethtown.

In addition, Schoenberger took part in the high school’s dual enrollment program, where he took college courses for both high school and college credit.

Schoenberger is active in numerous school activities. He is the captain of the soccer team and was named by the Lancaster-Lebanon League to its all-star soccer team. In addition, Schoenberger is a member of the track and field team, serves as a student ambassador, and is captain for Mini-THON.

In the community, Tavan has volunteered with the Etown United Soccer program and at Siena's Hugs. In addition, he is an intern with Epic Photography.

After graduation, he plans to attend Washington & Jefferson College to pursue a degree in business and finance. Schoenberger will continue his soccer career during his time at Washington & Jefferson.
