March 12, 2021- Elizabethtown Area High School seniors Gabriela Hohenwarter and Lukas Pierson were named the Elizabethtown Rotary Club's students of the month for March. Hohenwarter and Pierson were honored for their high academic achievement, extensive school involvement, and community service activities.

Hohenwarter is the daughter of Adam and Regina Hohenwarter of Mount Joy. She has received numerous honors during her high school years, including induction into the prestigious National Honor Society. As an accomplished musician, the Lancaster-Lebanon Music Educators Association selected her to the All-County. Hohenwarter received the Presidential Academic Award and the Academic Excellence Award in AP Macroeconomics as part of the underclass awards program.

Hohenwarter is active in numerous school programs and activities. She is a member of the high school orchestra, where she has served as concertmaster. She also participates with the choir and theater programs. As part of the spring musical, Hohenwarter has held lead roles in Seussical, The Musical and Little Women. Hohenwarter is also active with Mini-THON, the high school’s Student Ambassador Program, and Key Club.

Hohenwarter plans to attend a four-year year university to pursue a degree in either chemistry or biochemistry with the ultimate goal of becoming a trauma surgeon.

Pierson is the son of Jodi Murry of Elizabethtown and Kristopher Pierson of Elizabethtown. He is a member of the prestigious National Honor Society. As a member of the boys’ basketball team, Lukas has earned all-academic team and all-defensive team honors.

In the community, Pierson is active at LCBC where he is a youth group volunteer. He has also volunteered to hand out Christmas gifts and dinners to families in need.

Pierson plans to attend at Juniata College and major in Biochemistry to become a Pharmacologist. While at Juniata, Lukas will be a member of the college’s basketball team.
