November 7, 2019- Elizabethtown Area High School seniors Claire Fritz and Jacob Sevcik were named the Elizabethtown Rotary Club’s students of month for November. Fritz and Sevcik were honored for their high academic achievement and extensive involvement in school and community service activities.

Fritz is the daughter of Matthew and Carrie Fritz of Elizabethtown. She is a member of the prestigious National Honor Society. Fritz is an accomplished musician. She is a member of the concert, marching, and jazz bands; concert and show choirs; and the orchestra. Her senior year, she served as drum major for the marching band. Fritz has been named to the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 7, Region 5, and All-State chorus ensembles, as well as the District 7 orchestra ensemble. She is also a member of the Lancaster-Lebanon Music Educators Association county band, chorus, and orchestra ensembles.

Fritz has been active with the high school’s fall play and spring musical programs where she has held featured roles in both seasonal productions. Fritz earned a Hershey Theater Apollo Award nomination for Best Lead Actress in a Play for her role as Maggie Cutler in The Man Who Came to Dinner.

Fritz is active in the community where she performs for the E-Dance Center. She is employed by the Hershey Trolley Works as a performer. Fritz is an active member at Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren.Claire Fritz and Jacob Sevcik

Fritz plans to attend college to study music education and voice performance.

Sevcik is the son of Matt and Mindy Sevcik of Elizabethtown. He is member of the prestigious National Honor Society. Sevcik holds several leadership positions at the high school including captain of the boys’ soccer and volleyball teams, section leader for both the band and chorus, and security captain for min-THON. He is also active with the high school’s spring musical, bible club, and orchestra.

Sevcik is both an accomplished athlete and musician. He is a Lancaster-Lebanon League Section One all star in volleyball; a member of the Lancaster-Lebanon Music Educators Association’s county chorus and band ensembles; and a member of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association’s District 7 and Region 5 chorus ensembles.

In the community, Sevcik is a staff member at the Gretna Glen Camp and Retreat Center. He has also been a youth leader at the SEARCH for Christian Maturity retreat program. Sevcik is an active member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown

Sevcik plans to attend college and pursue a degree in chemical engineering.
