November 9, 2020- Elizabethtown Area High School seniors Emma Buettner and Jett Kelly were named the Elizabethtown Rotary Club’s students-of-the-month for November. Buettner and Kelly were honored for their high academic achievement, extensive school involvement, and community service activities.

Buettner is the daughter of Ross and Lisa Buettner of Elizabethtown. She is a member of the prestigious National Honor Society. She is active with the Newspaper, Key, and Bible Clubs, as well as the student ambassador program at the high school.

Buettner is an accomplished musician and performer. She is a member of the marching band (baritone section leader), concert band (oboe section leader), and jazz band (baritone section); the orchestra (oboe); and concert and show choirs. Buettner earned Lancaster-Lebanon Music Educators Association county band honors multiple years running. She has auditioned for PA Music Education Association honors at the District level.

As a performer, Buettner earned Hershey Theatre Apollo Award’s nominations in the Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Play categories. She was a key cast member that helped EAHS win the Outstanding Musical and Outstanding Dance Number in a Musical categories for Seussical the Musical. In addition to her performing roles, Buettner has served as a student choreographer and dance captain.

Buettner is active in the community, where she is both a dancer and teacher assistant with the E-Dance Center.  She is an active member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church of Elizabethtown, where she has participated in the Lutheran Youth Organization program, is part of the youth and youth bell choirs, and serves as a Lector and Acolyte.November Students of the Month

Buettner plans to attend a four-year college to major in Music Therapy.

Kelly is the son of Shawn and Bree Kelly of Elizabethtown. He is a member of the prestigious National Honor Society. Kelly is secretary for the school’s ski club, captain for the Mini-THON, a blood drive volunteer, and has completed the Attollo Leadership program.

Kelly is a decorated athlete at EAHS, where he is a four-year letter winner for both the football and lacrosse programs. The Lancaster-Lebanon League named Kelly to their all-star teams in both their football and lacrosse.

Kelly is active in the community, where he volunteers for various community service events and the Elizabethtown Boys Club youth football program.  He is an active member of LCBC Manheim Campus.

Kelly plans to attend college to pursue a degree in communications.
