November 16, 2022- Elizabethtown Area High School (EAHS) seniors Andrea Rodriguez and Luke Risser were named the Elizabethtown Rotary Club's Students of the Month for November. This program celebrates and recognizes student achievements by sustaining a culture of learning that values academic success and raises awareness of student contributions to the EAHS community.

Rodriguez is the daughter of Daniel and Sheila Rodriguez of Elizabethtown. As a junior, the high school inducted Rodriguez into the prestigious T.H. Ebersole Chapter of the National Honor Society for exhibiting the four pillars of scholarship, character, leadership, and service. 

In the academic arena, Rodriguez has earned numerous accolades. She is an AP Scholar with Distinction, a College Board National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar, and Lancaster Online Student Journalism Contest award winner. The high school faculty recognized Rodriguez for outstanding achievement and growth in numerous curricular areas as part of the underclass awards program. She was honored with academic excellence awards in AP U.S. Government and Politics, U.S. History, AP Language and Composition, Creative Writing, and Sociology. She also was named both the Model UN Consensus Builder and the Woodman Life American History Award winner.

Rodriguez hold leadership positions in numerous school activities. She is president of the Human Rights Club and the Model United Nations Program and editor for the Newspaper Club. She also serves as a peer tutor and is a member on the girls’ soccer team.

In the community, Rodriguez works at Samara - The Center for Individual and Family Growth  Her plans after graduation include attending a four-year college or university to study political science, government, and economics on a pre-law track.

Risser is the son of Eric and Heidi Risser of Elizabethtown. For his efforts in the classroom, the high school faculty recognized Risser for outstanding achievement and growth in several courses. He earned underclass awards in the areas of Spanish 2, Computer Programming 1, Honors Programming, AP Psychology, and AP Computer Science.

Risser takes part in several school activities. He is a member of the high school tennis team and the Bible Club.

In the community, Risser has taken part in several service trips including to Niagara Falls and New Kensington, PA. He is employed by the Masonic Village Elizabethtown and MK Roots Farm. Risser attends the Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church.

After graduation, Risser plans to attend Messiah University to pursue a degree in Computer Science.
