October 16, 2019- Elizabethtown Area High School seniors Ellen Schlosser and Adam Evans were named the Elizabethtown Rotary Club’s students of month for October. Schlosser and Evans were honored for their high academic achievement and extensive involvement in school, and community service activities.

Schlosser is the daughter of Matt and Hether Schlosser of Elizabethtown. She is a member of the prestigious National Honor Society. Schlosser holds numerous leadership positions at the high school including student council secretary, Science Olympiad team manager, and Lancaster County Career and Technology Center student ambassador.

Schlosser has earned several awards during her high school years. She placed third in the North Museum Science and Engineering Fair in the Biomedical and Translational Health Sciences category. She received the high school’s Contemporary Issues Student of the Year Award as part of the underclass awards program her junior year.

Schlosser is active in the community where she has interned at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Women and Babies Hospital and is a teacher assistant for the E-Dance Center. She is also active with St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

Schlosser plans to attend college and obtain a teaching nursing.

Evans is the son of Andy and Jodie Evans of Elizabethtown. He is member of the prestigious National Honor Society. Evans holds several leadership positions at the high school including class president and captain of varsity soccer team. In addition, Evans is a member of the track and field team and the chorus and show choirs. He is also active with the school newspaper, the computer programming and mathematics club, Mini-THON, and EAHS Theater productions.

An accomplished thespian, Evans held the lead role of Horton in the high school’s award-winning production of Seussical the Musical. As Horton, Evans received a Hershey Theater Apollo Awards nomination in the Outstanding Lead Actor category. Evans has been honored with the Coach’s Award for Distance both his sophomore and junior years as a member of the track and field team. He also received the high school’s World Language Department Award as part of the underclass awards program his freshman year.

In the community, Evans has been a participant in the Penn State Harrisburg STEM Summer Enrichment Program. He is also active with the Hershey Trolley Works as an actor and tour guide.

Evans plans to attend college and pursue a degree in engineering.
