September 24, 2019- Elizabethtown Area High School seniors Abigail Dehmey and Ethan Lown were named the Elizabethtown Rotary Club’s students of month for September. Dehmey and Lown were honored for their high academic achievement and extensive involvement in school, and community service activities.

Dehmey is the daughter of Corey and Jacquelyn Dehmey of Elizabethtown. She is a member of the prestigious National Honor Society. Dehmey is currently treasurer of student council. She is also active with the Science Olympiad, Competition Science, and the girls’ Lacrosse teams.

Dehmey has earned numerous awards during her high school years. She placed third in the North Museum Science and Engineering Fair in the Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, and Biomedical Engineering category. She has earned varsity letters in soccer, swimming, and lacrosse. She qualified for the district swimming meet and the state science Olympiad competition.

Dehmey is active in the community where she volunteers as a middle school soccer coach. She is also a tutor at East High Street Elementary for the “Bigs and Littles” program.

Dehmey plans to attend Penn State University and obtain a teaching degree

Lown is the son of Rick and Andrea Lown of Elizabethtown. He is member of the prestigious National Honor Society. Lown holds numerous leadership positions at the high school including student council president, class historian, Future Business Leaders of America treasurer, tennis team captain, and orchestra vice president. He is also active with the bible club, key club, and pit orchestra.

Lown has earned numerous awards at EAHS. He is a Lancaster-Lebanon League all-star and co-player of the year for tennis having qualified for the district meet. He was named to the county orchestra and is a two-time Future Business Leaders of America state qualifier. He was the 4-way Rotary Speech winner at EAHS advancing to the county level where he placed second.  

In the community, Lown has volunteered with the Global Aid Network and with the Pennsylvania Association of Student Councils. He has taken part in several mission trips including to Mozambique, Tanzania, the Dominican Republic, and Guatemala. Lown also assists at the GEARS tennis camps.

Lown plans to attend college and pursue a degree in criminal law.
